The Heat Shield is an essential accessory for using our Resin Sheets and other materials as it allows the FormBox to work with thicker sheets by improving the distribution of heat across the material.
Please note that 1.5mm sheets are the maximum thickness that can be used with the FB without running the risk of damaging the trays
Heat Shield installation and heating the sheet:
- Make sure both trays are down, place the heat shield on the silicon gasket of the top tray and push it down firmly into place, the "window" should face outwards (further instructions can be found on the back of the Resin Sheet box)
- Align the sheet up to the edge of the silicon
- Heating time: Set the temperature to 6. Resin Sheets are thicker so need slightly longer to heat - look for when the material just starts to bow. When you see it start to get 'bouncy' - bring the trays down over your tool.
- Leave the Resin Sheet to cool for at least 10 mins before removing from the FormBox Bed - if you try to remove the resin sheet too early whilst it's soft and warm, it will deform.
- Switch the heater off by turning the dial to “OFF” Leave the fans to cool the heater down for 10 minutes, before turning the FormBox off at the mains. This will also help cooling down your sheet.
Note: The edges can pull away slightly if the Heat Shield is not installed properly and the sheet is not aligned but should not affect the quality of the mold.
